The Most Popular Routes between the US and Canada This Month

It is logical that Canada and the United States have extensive air and road connections. Despite a sharp decline in flights between Canada and China, flights between the US and Canada remain robust. According to data collected by Cirium, a leading aviation analytics company, here are the flight routes from the United States to Canada scheduled for October.
NYC & Toronto Dominate the Busiest Routes
Major US airlines operate flights to Canada, except for Southwest Airlines due to its system limitations with Canadian currency. Leading Canadian airlines like Air Canada, Porter Airlines, and WestJet operate flights to the US.

In October, there were 13,549 scheduled flights from the US to Canada, accommodating 1,584,499 seats. Weekly, there are 3,070 flights offering 357,921 seats, showcasing the seamless travel between the two countries.
The top twenty busiest routes to Canada connect to Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Flights between NYC and Toronto dominate the most popular US-Canadian routes. Eight of the busiest ten routes go to Toronto, with seven landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport and one at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. Additionally, six more of the next ten busiest routes also head to Toronto Pearson, totaling 14 out of the top 20 routes.

Surprisingly, there are fewer flights to Montreal, the second-largest Canadian city. Only two flights to Montreal make the top twenty list: Air Canada’s NYC-LaGuardia to Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (the fourth busiest) and Air Canada’s Boston to Montréal–Trudeau (the 18th busiest).
From the United States, most of the top ten busiest routes originate from the New York City area, specifically LaGuardia and Newark airports. Notably, LaGuardia Airport in New York mainly serves domestic flights and has limited international flights, as it lacks US Customs and Border Protection facilities. Therefore, it only receives international flights from airports with US border preclearance, primarily from Canadian airports.
